Festival delivery in 2026, what's the new normal?

Festivals keep updating their delivery specs. Anyone settled on a default master for indie shorts in 2026, DCP every time or is a ProRes file finally enough?

DCP for anything with a theatrical screening, no exceptions. Half the horror stories I've heard are 'they said a file was fine' and then the projectionist disagreed.

Don't chase specs, chase the tech check. Email the festival's projection team a week early. The answer is always more reliable than the PDF.

ProRes 422 HQ master + a self-made DCP from open tools has gotten me through six festivals without a complaint.
